How Our Practice Works

The Harmony Doula Group recognizes the benefits to providing continuous care to our clients while they labor. While most women desire a relatively short labor experience, the average labor of a first time mother is commonly 20 to 30 hours from the onset of early labor until delivery. By working together as a team and sharing call in 12-hr shifts, the doulas of the HDG are able to:

  • Assist moms in labor whenever they are needed, whether in early labor or in active labor
  • Assist moms at their own home in the early stages of labor, if desired
  • Remain at their best throughout their shift, providing quality care and attention
  • Provide continuous care with a team of doulas a mom already knows, even for very long labors
  • Stay with moms until they feel ready to bond as a new family
  • Share their individual expertise and provide collaborative solutions

Our clients have the opportunity to meet and work with each of our team members during our Childbirth Education Classes and prenatal appointments, so that they know everyone on the doula staff who might support them during their labor.
